Adapt Modern 3-Point Seat Belts
The stock 240z seal belts were okay back in 1970, but they're awful compared to modern belts with a retractor. You can buy aftermarket belts that are supposed to be an easy upgrade, but they come with some disadvantages.
I knew I could find a better way but it took
a lot of time and effort.
Here's how I did it.
The Incredible Rollover Jig
If you're doing a ground-up full restoration, chances are the floors and rockers are rusted out. You can buy a bodywork rotisserie, but they're pretty expensive for a one-time use.
I found a cheaper way to accomplish the same thing. It was a real "leap of faith" but turned out better than I'd hoped.
Here's how I made mine.
Eliminate the Ugly Fuel Rail
The stock fuel delivery system is an eyesore. Replacing it is relatively simple but requires some prep and several hours of careful work to do it right.
Here's how it's done.
The RT Differential Mount
Datsun used a "leather" strap around the top of the differential to keep it from tilting up during acceleration. It worked okay but Ron Taylor came up with a better method using a steel frame and a polyurethane bumper. It's a great upgrade, but it has to be modified for a '70 or '71 because the differential is located slightly further back than all other models.
My solution is pretty ugly, but it works.
Here's how to modify it.
Custom Bumper
You can buy smooth and shaved bumpers without the overriders and rubber trim, in chrome or blacked-out, but they're not cheap.
You can do it yourself at a fraction of the cost, but it takes a fair amount of time and access to a welder.
Here's the process.
